An artist and Illustrator from Japan, Tetsuhiro’s work displays a folk-art like anthropomorphism that he hopes brings “grace to the heart”.
A bear catches a large star while fishing, a deer rows to the centre of a swirling lake as a rabbit gazes intently back – of such things Tetsuhiro builds his worlds.
There’s a wonderful childlike quality and unbridled naivety to the work. You get the feeling Tetsuhiro’s imagination gets to venture outside without constraints and come back with whatever it happens to find on its boundless travels.
Tetsuhiro Wakabayashi lives and works in Kanazawa, Japan and studied at Kanazawa College of Art.
