These happen in all kinds of ways. They can be hasty, intense, exhausting, recuperative and much more. They are always accompanied by communication and feelings, both positive and negative. The experiences in these encounters contribute to our very own individual personalities and stories.

For me, the story of a work begins with colors and shapes. They always accompany people in their environment, in which they move and meet. I take colors and shapes from their original environment and translate them into agile compositions of emotions on canvas. Surfaces and colors meet on canvas, they touch and overlap, sometimes grow together. In the same way, they define themselves clearly in other places and stand out from each other. The surfaces seem to move past each other or do they meet in the end? And if the forms met, what would change?

In our own stories, we meet each other, touch each other, wish for encounters and contacts or need more distance and space for our own selves. In my work, I am concerned with feelings such as attraction, affection and curiosity, but also fragility, insecurity and fears. Within encounters, people always communicate, with or without words. Single words can open up entire spaces for reflection. A single movement can unsettle or encourage a person. For me, colours and shapes are a means of communication to tell of encounters. A work is an excerpt, a snapshot that can become part of one's own history when viewed when viewed.
