"Sunset Love" | Screenprint | 22"x 28"
This artwork is completed in papel picado style using the negative space of the paper to construct the imagery. The style is culturally significant as papel picado is a prominent celebratory decoration at many different events including weddings, Día de los Muertos, and Fiesta (here in San Antonio). "Sunset Love" features kissing love birds over the mountains during sunset. The work expresses the warmth of love, the phrase "floating on air" as implied by the actual papel picado flags that are made from tissue paper making them extremely light and fragile as they hang in the wind. The delicate nature of the flags also lends itself to the notion of how fragile love can be.
"Let Them Rain Down" | Ink and Prismacolor | 17"x 11"
This artwork was influenced by the lotería card "corazón". At the center it shows a heart already pierced by Cupid's arrow. As you look at the rest of the composition, the hearts are all in the process of being pierced. The accuracy of Cupid is flawless as each and very heart will or is stuck by his arrow. This work expresses what we all hope and believe, that it's just a matter of time before we find true love.
The artwork comes with a Certification of Authenticity signed by the artist.
