Pandemic Paintings

For the past year, like everyone else, I have been trying to come to terms with a diminished reality. Without interacting with random strangers, visiting new places, and eating new foods, my imagination has begun to reach out to make new experiences and to process the ever more present shocks. Much of the world has been having a hard time accepting these changes as they are. Politics, climate change, mass extinction, medical and technological leaps present ever more terrifying possible futures. Instead our fears of the possible alternative outcomes play out in denying the reality and fantasizing about a more palatable one based on partial truths. My paintings over this time address these fantasies and partial truths that make up our post enlightenment world.
