Biography
Clara Charis Quaas is a self-taught artist based in Berlin whose paintings move between figuration and abstraction. Through expressive brushwork, vivid colours and shifting forms, she explores the tension between outward appearance and inner experience.
Her figures challenge conventions of beauty and behaviour, revealing how social expectations shape our sense of self. Embracing spontaneity and imperfection, Quaas brings vulnerability, absurdity and humour into works that question the limits we impose on ourselves and others.
Her work has featured in exhibitions and projects in Berlin, including notagallery (2022), Wirtschaft kann Kinder (2022) and Empower to Express, organised by Plan International Deutschland (2023).
