MOTHER is an underwater photographic project made with a malfunctioning Nikonos camera. By allowing seawater to enter the camera, I surrender part of the image-making process to the ocean. Saltwater marks, scratches, distortions and partial erasures become embedded in the negatives, producing photographs formed through an interaction between body, camera, material process, ocean and chance. The work asks whether photographic materials can hold psychological and ecological experience, and whether damage can become a form of knowledge.

The artwork comes with a Certificate of Authenticity signed by the artist.
