My artwork explores the rhythms of life and human connections to the natural world. I admire creative expression that’s spare and resonant: reductive compositions and abstracted forms focus on of the essence of a subject whether it be physical or emotional.

My favorite mediums are charcoal and oil paint, which I apply in layers and then enhance and selectively remove. By juxtaposing positive and negative shapes and presenting an incomplete scene, the meaning of my artwork is deliberately ambiguous. Space in the picture plane is not only a background but a partner to the composition: the suggestion of what else is there or could happen creates an ethereal sensibility that resonates with possibility.
