Artist Statement Work took from my work series of "The poetry of Mughal Miniature ". 1- Title: Woman in the Garden of Royal Empire " Size: 19×27.5cm Medium: Gouache on high grams Watercolour dyed texture paper. 2- Harmony within the shamsa " Size: 19×29.5 cm Medium: Gouache on Watercolour textured high grams hand dyeing sheet.

The inspiration behind these works is closely connected to the exhibition theme, Postcard, A postcard carries stories, emotions, and traces of the past from one person to another, becoming a vessel of memory and heritage. Responding to this theme, I chose to draw inspiration from my own cultural heritage and the rich traditions of Mughal miniature painting As a miniature painting artist, I work with the traditional techniques of Mughal miniature painting while creating compositions that connect historical inspiration with my own artistic vision and creating new art work for this exhibition. In title"Woman in the Garden of Royal Empire", I portray a noble woman adorned with royal jewelry, symbolizing excellence, elegance, and strength of character. Set within a flourishing garden, the composition features nargis and poppy flowers, plants that were highly admired and cultivated during the Mughal era. This painting is entirely my own composition, inspired by the historical figure of Jahanara Begum, the influential Mughal princess known for her intelligence, leadership, and active participation in political affairs. Rather than creating a portrait, I draw upon her legacy as a symbol of femininity, grace, and vision. Through this work, I aim to celebrate the presence of powerful women in history whose elegance was matched by their wisdom and influence. The second painting, In title " Harmony within Shamsa" also explores the beauty of the Mughal garden tradition through a personal interpretation. It depicts two birds, one lovingly feeding the other, representing harmony, affection, and companionship. I have stylized these birds within cloud forms inspired by traditional Mughal miniature aesthetics, creating a poetic and symbolic narrative. The composition is enclosed within a Shamsa, a traditional geometric design associated with illumination, royalty, and spiritual beauty. By integrating the birds with the Shamsa motif, I seek to unite themes of love, balance, and refinement. By revisiting historical narratives, traditional motifs, and the imagery of Mughal gardens, I seek to create a visual connection between past and present, preserving cultural memories while reinterpreting them through my own artistic language. In this way, the paintings function as visual postcards from history, carrying stories of beauty, harmony, and heritage across time
