My work celebrates either the women in my life and circle or imperative historical figures that deserve recognition. Narrative is a strong part of my content as storytelling comes naturally to me. For the postcard project, I submitted a graphite, ink pen, and marker drawing about Harlem Renaissance sculptress Augusta Savage and painter Lois Mailou Jones making art in Paris. My pen technique is all about finding value in form, building shadows by applying pressure for darks and using a light hand for the most positive areas. The embellished roses is a metaphor for giving these two women their props.

The artwork comes with a Certificate of Authenticity signed by the artist.
