I create hand-gilded photographs—each realized as a unique variant—that explore light, surface, and moments of presence through atmospheric impressions of the natural world. Printed on translucent vellum and Japanese kozo and gilded on the verso with precious metals, the works echo the shifting light in which they were first seen as light moves across their surfaces.

Rather than treating photography as a fixed image, I think of the print as a responsive object. The interaction of paper, precious metal, pigment, and light becomes an essential part of the work, allowing each photograph to change subtly with its environment and with the viewer's position.

Living with a collection of turn-of-the-twentieth-century art and objects—including Art Nouveau, Arts & Crafts, and early photography—continues to inform my approach to atmosphere, tonality, and the material presence of the photographic print. Whether working in States of Grace, Into the Mist, The Weight of Light, or Held Light, I am less interested in describing a place or subject than in creating an experience of sustained looking—where light, material, and perception invite a quiet, contemplative encounter.

The artwork comes with a Certificate of Authenticity signed by the artist.
