Self taught artist Lucy spent many years writing and directing films; for her  the art direction  was a huge draw - exploring the narrative through objects and colours  interiors  light and spaces. While living in Berlin for eight years she moved into a successful career in interior design but since moving back to London she felt the need for a more direct link to creativity and the draw of painting was so strong she hasn't looked back. She now has a studio in London Fields  in Hackney where she lives with her husband and three kids. She paints every day without fail and is fascinated by colour and deeply inspired by pattern  nature and interiors. She finds inspiration in the simplest of objects  such as food and flowers  or the movements of her children  dance  shapes of swimmers in the water. There is a sense of nostalgia  a craving of purity and a longing for missed things in her work. She has an appreciation of beauty  and loves to use layers of textures to create a timeless  sense to her pieces. She likes her work to remain playful and joyous  to allow a moment of beauty to live out on a loop.
