My work is rooted in representational painting, especially portraiture. I am interested in the psychological life of the subject rather than simple representation. Through realistic painting, subtle distortion, and the repetition or overlapping of eyes, lips, and other facial features, I explore hidden emotions and different states of mind within one face.
