Matthew Freeth — Correspondances #2

I have a huge amount of source material that keeps me very occupied, things collected in the UK and also in the US, nurturing a kind of surreal pop art style, drawing on many sources in my collages from the world of art, advertising, comics etc. A lot of my pieces become pages in various scrapbooks. My paintings however tend to be portraits and/or figurative, with the occasional landscape. Not exactly classical, as there's a comic book element often present. I enjoy working with textures too, like mixing chalk with paint. The two female portraits in this postcard series were originally made on a handmade paper base, something I was doing a lot of at one point, adding collage elements into the wet paper.

The artwork comes with a Certificate of Authenticity signed by the artist.
