my photos are full of color and small discoveries. this work ranges from drone images of the beach and shoreline to the sunsets in the sky. for over 20 years, i have focused on people standing in front of these oceans and sunsets. now, with my personal work, i am pulling those 'backgrounds' into the foreground. from a birds eye view, i quickly take photos as the drone is flying around- and when i look at the photos more closely on the computer, i am always amazed to find something small in the image that i didn't see before. it is a different way of working- as many of my family and wedding portraits are composed precisely and every detail is noticed before i snap the shutter. it is a way of meditating on the beauty around us that happens for brief moments. and it truly is a brief moment as it is always morphing into something else- to capture a single moment is to be reminded of every moment being precious, calming and important.
