Patricia Kelly is a Northern Irish artist whose stitched works explore memory, place, and the quiet persistence of handwork. Influenced by the Japanese philosophy of wabi-sabi, she embraces imperfection, repetition, and the beauty of the everyday. Using recycled textiles, Kelly creates minimalist compositions where embroidered lines echo the rural landscapes of Western Ireland and the labor of past generations. Her intuitive process blends geometric order with organic forms, developed over decades of working with thread. Based in County Fermanagh, she now focuses fully on her practice after a long career in art education. Her work has been widely exhibited and is held in public and private collections, including NIVAL and Enniskillen Castle Museum.

Patricia Kelly
Patricia Kelly is an Irish artist based in County Fermanagh, where she was born and continues to live and work. A graduate of Ulster University in Belfast, she earned a B.A. with Honors in Fine Craft Design in 1986, specializing in embroidered textiles, followed by a Postgraduate Certificate in Art Education. She taught Art and Design until 2021, when the closure of a rural school led to a pivotal shift, allowing her to fully dedicate herself to her art. Kelly’s practice centers on freehand embroidery, where stitched lines transcend function to become a contemplative language of abstraction.
