Wendy French — Correspondances #3

My work uses collage, assemblage, text, and found materials to explore memory, appetite, ritual, and emotional inheritance. I am interested in the stories embedded within discarded objects and fragments of language, and in how acts of collecting, layering, and rearranging can function as forms of meaning-making. Drawing from personal archives, vernacular imagery, handwritten notes, vintage ephemera, and everyday materials, I create compositions that move between the intimate and the symbolic. The resulting works operate as theatres of memory where longing, humor, tenderness, grief, and desire coexist. Through accumulation, juxtaposition, and transformation, I examine how we preserve what matters, release what no longer serves us, and construct narratives from the remnants we leave behind.
