Context
I created these three postcards in 2021, during a five-year period when I explored being a musician before returning to my first love, visual art. While I often felt out of my league writing music, I was quite comfortable creating the visuals for my songs. Making album art was exciting in that I was freed from the need to create deep, complex, subtle, meaningful artwork. The lyrics of my songs carried that responsibility. Thus the visuals were freed up to be simple, even shallow. For these postcards, I cleared out my and a friend's freezers and used them to make two clear blocks of ice. They were beautiful when they emerged, like cold glass. I then took the ice to the beach, tennis court, and a private lake and captured the photographs for the album visuals.
