The Curators presents I’m in the Mood to Dissolve in the Sky, a group exhibition bringing together works by Johanna Bath, Edwige Fouvry, Katya Frolova, Luca Giovagnoli, Yeva Khrapova, Yvonne Roeb, and Julian Spianti.

Bringing together artists from various European scenes—from Germany, Belgium, France, and Italy to Latvia, as well as Uzbekistan and Ukraine—the exhibition forms a constellation of paintings centered almost exclusively on female figures. Each of these works seeks to capture a fragile moment of presence: an instant when attention slightly withdraws from the external world and turns toward a more interior, more diffuse space.

The bodies do not pose; they remain. Gestures slow down, and gazes turn away or drift into the distance. The figures appear absorbed in a form of inner wandering, as if thought were unfolding elsewhere, allowing the body to exist in a presence that is both simple and enigmatic. In these moments of distraction or surrender, painting reveals a particular beauty of the body: a fragile, often unexpected beauty that emerges precisely when consciousness loosens its hold.

The title of the exhibition, borrowed from Virginia Woolf, evokes precisely this fleeting state. I’m in the Mood to Dissolve in the Sky suggests less a landscape than a state of mind: a moment when identity softens, when the boundaries of the self become more porous, and perception grows more fluid. In Woolf’s writing, as in these paintings, the experience of the world unfolds through subtle movements of consciousness, through those moments when attention slips from one sensation to another.
