An emerging artist based in Riga, Latvia, Katya Frolova holds a BA in Fashion Design from Moscow State University of Design and Technologies. Her background spans painting and graphics, alongside an early career as a fashion photographer. Motherhood has profoundly shaped Frolova's artistic journey, deepening her passion for painting. Balancing creative practice with the demands of parenthood, her subject matter has naturally evolved around femininity. Her work seeks to capture the essence of the feminine—an ever-shifting force reflecting an internal landscape. Sexuality, aggression, fear, uncertainty, and the powerful maternal instinct intertwine, shaping the narratives of her heroines, who exist in liminal spaces, defined more by their presence than their surroundings.

Primarily working with oils, Frolova uses color as a key expressive tool to heighten emotional impact. By manipulating color and texture—ranging from blurred figures to deconstructed, almost abstract forms—she translates her inner state onto the canvas.
