Sacha Beverley Artist Statement for Postcard Exhibition:

In this body of work, I pay homage to the three cats I rescued from the streets of Mexico. More than beloved companions, they have become an integral part of my creative journey. As I navigated a new life as an Australian living in Mexico, they became a constant source of comfort, companionship and inspiration. They curl up beside me while I paint, play with my paintbrushes, keep me company through the often-solitary process of being an artist, and inspire me every day with their unique personalities and unconditional love.

For this special exhibition, I have transformed portraits of my cats by combining them with elements from many of my own original abstract paintings, creating vibrant digital collages that celebrate each cat’s individual character. Each background is built from fragments of my original artworks, digitally layered to create entirely new pieces while preserving the spirit of the paintings they came from.

For me, these works are a tribute to the unexpected relationships that have shaped my life, reminding me that some of life’s greatest gifts arrive when we least expect them.

The artwork comes with a Certificate of Authenticity signed by the artist.
