Was this experience helpful?
This project grew out of a deeply personal relationship with an abandoned house hidden in the woods of the Perche region. Over three years, I returned to it again and again, photographing its rooms, its walls, and the surrounding forest through the changing seasons. I wrote the accompanying texts, designed and self-published an artist's book, and the work was later presented in a major exhibition at the Château Saint-Jean in Nogent-le-Rotrou.
The house could no longer be lived in, yet I found myself imagining a life within it. I spent time there, even an entire night, allowing the place to become familiar. The project is not a document about an abandoned building but an exploration of what it means to inhabit a place, and to be inhabited by it in return.
The house becomes a space of memory and imagination, where the boundaries between landscape, shelter, and inner life quietly dissolve.
