Elizabeth Lee — Correspondances #2

I use the energy of color to create a visceral experience for the viewer. I believe the canvas has sentience, even if it is merely my own projection. I am in constant conversation with it. While this intent may partially deify the painting process, I maintain a sense of humor and chronic playfulness. My hope is to fuel each piece with a wanton joy.

I identify as a Hapa artist, working primarily with acrylic painting and mixed media. Where I find the greatest joy is in abstract expressionism. The pieces submitted to this show, POSTCARD, are more illustrative, from the days I worked in graphic design. These whimsical, sometimes nonsensical pieces arise from my imagination, to amuse me. If they make others curious or delighted, it's my sheer happiness!
