I work with magnetic fields within a graphic medium. As a starting point, I use ferromagnets, various inks, and iron/metal shavings. With the help of magnets, I form imagery from the metal shavings and fix it to the substrate using inks, binders, and other liquids. I use permanent ferromagnets in different sizes and shapes, allowing me to build varied compositions and actively shape the character of the magnetic fields. The resulting works can take on both abstract and representational qualities. I have also developed my methods in the monotype technique.Fine droplets of solvent are dispersed into the paint I apply to the printing plate, spreading through diffusion in the coloured film and creating so-called fractal patterns. In these delicate, richly branching structures I and the viewer may, depending on imagination, perceive thriving vegetation, mountain ranges from a bird’s-eye view, or jagged sea fjords. Similar to my use of magnetism, this is a clever visualisation of a spontaneous physical process.
