Alejandro Sintura Castro lives and works in Bogotá, Colombia.
His work consists of painted images, pictures made from observation, memory and archives. Contemplation of nature and accepting the richness of simple subjects is fundamental in his process. The subjects he chooses are excuses to reflect upon perception, light and the poetry of everyday life. The complexity of the work doesn’t reside on the kind of themes depicted but the way light makes them appear to the observers. Alejandro’s aim is painting simple themes through a simple execution. Painting marks are thin and few, trying to take away from the image everything that’s not essential to its making. His paintings are about evoking and suggesting more than describing.
Alejandro Sintura Castro graduated in the Classe Préparatoire de l'École Nationale Supérieure des Beaux-Arts de Lyon in 2019 and he is currently completing a degree in Visual Arts at Pontificia Universidad Javeriana in Bogotá.
