This piece is part of a new series called "marea" (tide in English)
The title is a play on words in Spanish, on the one hand the reference to the sea from working with aquatic images and on the other the visual dizziness from researching this topic over the last 20 years. The paintings that I have made in these 20 years, I carry in my unconscious, like a blurry ghost that appears involuntarily in each new painting that I make, so, I decided to use all the paintings that I have painted as the main reference, using parts or all and mixing them in new canvas, crossing perspectives, exchanging meanings, where color is what directs what to observe or deform or transform into another form.
This particular painting presented for this contest is a scene that crosses two perspectives and 3 scenes. They are 3 paintings that I did a few years ago for different projects and by uniting them in this new one, I wanted to convey the sensation of vertigo of diving, and at the same time both height/distance and proximity to the water. At the same time, the different temporalities of each image converge in a single frame, creating a new space-time.
