Johanna Bath, born in 1980 in Warendorf, Germany, began her studies in illustration design in 1999 at the Bildkunst Akademie in Hamburg. She later specialized in painting at the Hochschule für Angewandte Wissenschaft (HAW) in Hamburg, where she graduated in 2007.
Since then, Johanna has exhibited her work in numerous group and solo exhibitions in Germany and internationally, including in London, Shanghai, Seoul, Ibiza, New York, and Chicago. She is currently represented by Enari Gallery (Amsterdam).
Her work explores the passage of time, ephemerality, and the impact of memory on the human experience, seeking a visual language that expresses loss and the melancholy that accompanies it. Her paintings—poetic, gentle, and intimate—invite contemplation, encouraging viewers to capture fleeting moments and revisit memories.
