Description

No Opponent (2026) No Opponent depicts two hands engaged in a tug-of-war, each pulling against the other with equal force. Although the image suggests conflict, the absence of a visible opponent reveals a different reality: the struggle is entirely self-contained.

The work reflects on the psychological tendency to create and sustain internal tensions through overthinking, self-doubt, and imagined obstacles. Inspired by the idea of "fighting one's own demons," it examines how the mind can become both the source of conflict and the force trapped within it. The rope becomes a metaphor for self-imposed burdens — tensions that persist not because they are unavoidable, but because they are continuously held in place.

Rather than portraying an external battle, No Opponent invites viewers to consider the invisible struggles they construct for themselves, and the emotional weight of resisting what originates from within.
