I am a member of East London Printmakers, where I work with Mokulito and mono screen printing. My practice is rooted in walking, observing and collecting inspiration from the natural world. I love filling sketchbooks with the patterns, textures and colours I discover on my walks, which then become the starting point for my prints.
The postcards I have submitted were created using Play-Doh to make the printing plates, combined with grasses, corn and found natural materials, printed with an ink pad. I then use colour to capture the atmosphere and landscape of the places where I collected these materials.
Cornwall was inspired by the vibrant yellow wildflowers growing amongst the ancient stone walls, alongside the changing blues and greens of the sea. I loved the image so much that I created a series of these postcards to send to my family when on holiday this month.
Harvest Time was created after a walk through the fields and woodland at Perry Green which is currently at the height of the harvest season. I wanted to capture the textures, shapes and warm colours of the landscape.
Summer Hedgerows celebrates the wild hedgerows that border the fields on these walks. I am fascinated by their rich patterns, seasonal colours and the abundance of plant life they contain, which I have translated into this print.
