Valentine Bouvet is a French artist based in the Paris region. Working from her studio in Saint-Ouen-sur-Seine, she explores representations of femininity and the ways contemporary images shape our perceptions of the body and identity.
Rooted in the visual language of 2000s pop culture and social media, her work draws on personal archives of childhood photographs, drawings, and objects, bringing together individual memory and collective imagery.
Working primarily with oil painting, drawing, and watercolor, Bouvet creates highly saturated, tightly cropped compositions inspired by digital visual culture. Her paintings examine the ways femininity is represented, judged, and constructed across different stages of life.
