Earned MFA from Eastern Michigan University. Taught at Luther College, Iowa; St. Mary's College, Indiana; University of Notre Dame, Indiana; the University of Tennessee; and Lincoln Memorial University, Tennessee. Currently teaches middle grades at Webb School of Knoxville, Tennessee and Walters State Community College. Archie Bray Foundation resident artist, Montana. Visiting Artist at The Ohio State University and the New Orleans Center for Creative Arts. Exhibited nationally, including solo shows at The Clay Studio in Philadelphia and Pewabic Pottery in Detroit. Shown in “Site Specifics” at the Islip Art Museum, New York; “Ceramic Objects/Conceptual Material,” at the Fine Arts Center Gallery, Fayetteville, Arkansas and “House Party: R.S.V.P. B.Y.O.B” at the Museum of Early Southern Decorative Arts in Winston-Salem. Traveling group exhibitions include "Sublime Servers," originating at Baltimore Clayworks and "NCECA Clay National," originating at the San Diego Museum of Art. Work is in the public collections of the Flint Institute of Arts, Flint, Michigan; the Archie Bray Foundation, Helena, Montana; the South Bend Regional Museum of Art, Indiana, and the University of Tennessee, Knoxville; and in the private collections of Geoffrey Cantor, Brooklyn, New York; Joseph W. Waz, Jr., Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and Midge and Jerry Golner, Phoenix, Arizona. Author of numerous publications including articles in Ceramics Monthly, and the NCECA Journal. Reviewed in Ceramics Art and Perception and The New York Times. Recipient of Fulbright Memorial Fund Scholarship for travel in Japan; and National Endowment for the Arts grant for study at Anderson Ranch Arts Center and the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. Lectured at InSea World Congress, Olomouch, Czech Republic; The Knoxville Museum of Art, Tennessee; The University of Illinois; The Ohio State University; Maharishi International University, Iowa; Edinboro University, Pennsylvania; Stephen F. Austin State University, Texas; University of St. Francis, Indiana; and the Holter Museum of Art, Montana. Served the Tennessee State Board of Education on the committee to revise the state Fine Arts Standards. Was recognized as the Tennessee Art Education Association’s 2025 East Tennessee Art Educator of the year. Participated in a National Endowment for the Arts grant to pilot curriculum centered on culturally responsive teaching and student-centered instruction.
