Description

I’m sending 3 hand stitched vintage postcards that I found on Vancouver island where I currently live. I’m loosing my home, my art studio along with 12 years of marriage that I believed was forever. I don’t know yet where my next destination is. I often send handwritten postcards to my friends from places that are significant to me or for the significant occasions of others. The messages that I want to come in a slowest form of a postcard sent by mail, as an act of care, of meaningful connection, even though I have an instant way of just sending a message over social media. These postcards I hand stitched because it seems even a slower and more meaningful process than handwriting, it did take time to stitch those words. The words are the message to my future lover, and to all the lovers of the world, who keeps believing that love is possible even after all the heartbreaks and pain that happens from opening your heart to love.

The first postcard “I will meet you here” is also dedicated to my friend who recently passed away from cancer, Ira Yakobson, she was the one who loved and lived her life fully, Paris was her dream and love city and that’s where she made a pact with her husband to meet in the future life. I believe this will happen for her. This card is for her and everyone as passionate about love as her. The second card with Arc de Triomphe “I will hug you here” is in memory of all the soldiers who died in the wars, I stitched those cards in the small Ukrainian church on Vancouver island while two elderly women prayed. Their prayers were for women left by their men during the war. I dedicate this card to all the men and women who are fighting now for Ukraine and thinking how this all might be a WWIII in the history books later. I hope all the loving souls that we lost during the war will have a chance to hug their loved ones in Paris. The last postcard “I will kiss you here” is a vintage postcard of a place close to my heart, Tofino, Pacific Ocean, Vancouver island. It’s where you feel the most connected to nature and love that exists beyond all wars and human conflicts, where people surf and lovers walk, this is the place I hope to end my days at, with my forever love. And I wish to all the lovers to visit at least once. From Vancouver island to Paris, with Love. Varvara
