Juliano Mazzuchini
Juliano Mazzuchini (b. 1981, Jacareí – São Paulo) is a performer-turned-painter now living in Buenos Aires. Trained in theater at the Escola Livre de Teatro and UNA, his work investigates gesture, presence, and the transformative power of the human figure through painting.
His pieces feel cinematic—gesture mapped in oil, figures poised as if mid-scene, light and shadow suggesting a play unspoken. Rooted in epics and ritual, his compositions invite us to inhabit a suspended moment that feels both intimate and charged. Solo exhibitions include O Encenador (2025, Rio de Janeiro) and Alusões ao Aqui (2023), with group shows at Proa21 and MACBA (Buenos Aires). He was a 2024 Hopper Prize finalist and recently completed a residency in Patagonia.
Painting, for him, is a performative act—rooted in theater, triggered by gesture, and bound to the unseen.
