Brought up in rural Nottinghamshire, Fergus Polglase lives in London, where he is completing his masters degree at Central Saint Martins.
His work draws reminiscence of his childhood, with a lot of comical and humorous figurative forms, and carries the influence of pop culture, violence, masculinity, graffiti and reproduction of found materials.
His abstract depictions of life are built up with numerous layers of paint that are worked into and scraped back, washed over and built up again with more layers of paint and collage. His paintings are both expressive and controlled, as he tries to find a perfect balance in each of his pieces. "The process and decision making is the most important point of a painting to me and it is a difficult time to know when to stop".
Recently, his work has evolved with sculpture, digital work and film.Visit Artist’s Page
