Q. Tell us about yourself and how you came to be an artist…
-
A. I was born in Kharkiw in Ukraine. Today I live and work in Munich . I grew up in a family of artists, where books played a significant role in my practice. In my twenties I worked really hard to get into the National Art Academy. I completed both my bachelor's degrees and my master's degrees at the National Academy of Arts in Lviv in Ukraine.

Q. What is your creative process ?
-
A. I usually start working when everyone is asleep. Sometimes I paint late in the evening. I definitely need a quiet and solitary atmosphere. Music helps.
-
Q. Your are your main character traits?
-
A. Motherly, melancholic, thoughtful.
-
Q. Describe your work in three words...
-
A. Contemporary, dreamy and naive.

-
Q. How do you feel about the mix of text and paint in your practice ?
-
A. I feel like text adds a playful and somewhat rebellious element to my practice. In a way it’s almost like I am vandalizing my own work.

Q. Your favorite color ?
-
A. Black.
-
Q. How has your practice evolved over the years?
-
A. I have finally managed to paint what I feel and not just what I see. That was a long way after a classical academic education. I also became a mother, and that has had an impact on my work. I am inspired by my son every day, and by his pure view on things. I feel the desire to see the world more simply, perhaps more like a child now. Kids have the ability to "uncomplicate" facts. You could say that - as long as children are allowed to be children - they have the wonderful gift of playfully seeing what is essential.
-
Q. How does the naked body and portraits without the face passionate you ?
-
A woman's body is impressive to me. It can be incredibly strong and at the same time vulnerable. The female figure has always been a great inspiration for many artists. For me, hiding the face gives a new dimension to the work. I find that details can be distracting.
-
Q. Who are the contemporary art figures who influenced you the most?
-
A. Johanna Dumet and Iryna Maksymova. But I believe inspiring minds are not only found in visual arts. Fashion, photography and music are also great sources of inspirations for me.
-
Q. What makes you laugh?
-
A. My sister and my son.
-
Q. What do you enjoy the most about your friends ?
-
A. Their minds and spiritual views.
-
Q. If you could have diner with anyone dead or alive?
-
A. My future self in 30 years.
-
Q. Are you experiencing any blocks in you practice right now ?
-
A. I'm just coming out of a block...
-
Q. Your dream of happiness ?
-
A. A large space roof studio with lots of light.
-
Q. What makes you excited about the future?
-
A. Honestly I try to focus my thoughts on the here and now.
-
Q. Current state of mind ?
-
A. Lost in time. Sometimes I feel like everything is going too fast, and sometimes like I am living in slow motion.
